At its February 15, 2024 Board Meeting, the California Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards Board approved significant revisions to their lead standards, General Industry and Construction Safety Orders. The revised standards became effective January 1, 2025.

To help employers understand their obligations and comply with the requirements, Cal/OSHA has developed educational materials and resources, including a model written lead compliance program for general industry and construction work. These materials and resources are posted on Cal/OSHA’s Occupational Lead Exposure Prevention Guidance and Resources webpage. Employers should review their existing procedures, programs and the guidance resources provided on the website to ensure that workers are protected.

PRISM will continue to monitor the OSH Standards Board and keep members informed of regulatory changes. For questions about this blog please contact John Nichols at jnichols@prismrisk.gov.
