Presented by:  Linda Garrett, Esq., Garrett Law  LLC                                                                                                                                      Andrew J. Garrett, Esq., Garrett Law LLC

The CARE Act implementation date for most counties will be December 1, 2024 and this webinar will focus on all aspects of this Act, including the who, what, how and why of this somewhat controversial piece of legislation (SB 1338).  We will talk about its purpose and goals, who it is meant to help, and what is required in order for a CARE agreement or CARE plan to be implemented.  The petition form will be reviewed, as well as issues such as jurisdiction, insurance coverage, and best practices developed in those counties that implemented the CARE Act early, in the Fall of 2023.  We will also discuss Prop 1 and the activities of newly formed stakeholder groups led by the CA Department of Health Care Services (DHCS)as it begins the process of transforming the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) into the Behavioral Health Services Act (BHSA), and allocates funding to provide more services and housing for those at risk of serious mental health conditions and substance use disorders, as well as people experiencing homelessness, at risk of incarceration or conservatorship, or at risk of institutionalization.  We hope you can join us for a review of these major developments in the provision of services for those experiencing serious behavioral health challenges!
