Course description:
The zoom guided discussion teaches the student the knowledge and skills required of a Competent Person. Regulatory requirements are covered in the California Government Code, Cal/OSHA Construction Safety Orders; the Common Ground Alliance explains the best practices for excavations. Other essential risk controls are covered including: hazard recognition, changing conditions, hazard abatement, shutting down the job site, permit requirements, soil analysis, protective systems, and hiring and monitoring contractors.
Pre-Course Requirement:
Be familiar with the Introduction, and Chapters 3, 4, and 5 of the Common Ground Alliance. These will be discussed in class.
Students who pass the exam will receive a certificate of completion.
