These occupancies typically involve buildings or structures where more than six individuals gather at any one time for educational purposes up to the 12th grade. Many of the buildings in PRISM's member school districts fall into this category. To delve deeper into fire and life safety inspections, check out our new Risk Simplified resource.

Title IX Updates

On April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education released its final rule to fully effectuate Title IX's promise that no person experiences sex discrimination in federally funded education. The new rules, which take effect on August 1, 2024, extend the law’s reach to prohibit discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

In addition, the Department has released a fact sheet, a summary of the major provisions of the final regulations, and a resource for drafting Title IX nondiscrimination policies, notices of nondiscrimination, and grievance procedures.
