Take Part in Suicide Prevention Week
Everyone plays a role in suicide prevention. Equip staff with the knowledge to identify and respond to the warning signs of suicide. Our new blog post compiles free resources from multiple agencies across the state for your convenient access.

New Guidelines for School Activities Affected by Wildfire Smoke
The CDE recently issued guidelines to assist schools in determining whether to cancel or modify school activities when wildfire smoke creates poor outdoor air quality conditions. The guidelines are not meant to supersede protocols school districts may have already adopted. Instead, use them to make informed decisions when outdoor air quality is poor due to wildfire smoke.

Legislation Update
SB 778 was filed with the Secretary of State on August 30 and was made immediately effective. This bill cleans up issues raised with SB 1343, which was approved during the 2018 legislative session. SB 778 delays the implementation of the harassment training requirements of SB 1343 until 2020. The bill also stipulates that if supervisors or employees receive harassment training in 2019, retraining is not required until 2021. For more details, read LCW’s Special Bulletin.
