Insurance Requirements in Contracts Manual – 2019 Version Released by Alliant
Alliant’s Public Entity Group maintains an Insurance Requirements in Contracts (IRIC) Manual as a service to the public sector and to EIA members. The manual is reviewed annually for any updates or changes to suggested insurance requirements. The newly released 2019 Version includes the following modifications:
- New FAQ to address passage of CA Civil Code §2782.9
- Updated indemnification language related to design professionals
- Revised chapter seven to include:
- Nuances of carnival rides, food trucks, and farmers markets
- Traffic Safety plans and political demonstrations
- California State University (CSU) Special Events Resource Guide (SERG)
- Amended Appendix C to include new language for contracts with design professionals

Updated Safety Talks
This EIA toolbox resource has just been updated with 40 new topics. Safety Talks: A Tailgate/Toolbox Resource is a complimentary selection of safety meeting topics which may be used at your next safety meeting. This guide now includes over 140 topics to choose from such as; safe driving, portable ladders, working safely, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness. Property Renewal
The Property Program renewed on March 31st, and evidence of coverage is available in My Entity Documents on the EIA website. Several endorsements have been issued on the Property Program Memorandum of Coverage (MOC) since the start of the 18/19 policy year. These endorsements have been added to the MOC, and the updated document has been posted. Members can access the document through My Entity Documents. Please note: AlliantConnect is currently unavailable through April 5th, in order to establish the Total Insured Values for binding with the carriers.
