Workers’ Comp and Liability Renewal Applications are LIVE!
The 2020/21 renewal process is underway! Members of EWC, GL1 and GL2 were emailed instructions earlier this week. The applications are located in the Member’s Area under Renewals on our website. For questions, please contact the Underwriting Department.
Join us on Tuesday, August 13 at 9:00 am, as we walk you through our updated renewal application and answer any questions you may have. We will be recording this webcast, so if you are not able to attend on the day, you will be able to access it via EIAtv following the live broadcast.
Voting Open: Public Entity Board of Directors
Voting is now open for the EIA Public Entity Board of Directors. This is open only to Public Entity Members, and will be open until August 28th. Questions? Contact Kelli Snelling for more information.
EIA Sponsoring CPOA 2019 Advance Conference
One of the EIA’s strategic initiatives this year is to help member risk teams build a stronger relationship with their law enforcement staff. With this in mind, we are excited to share with you that the EIA is sponsoring the California Peace Officers’ Association (CPOA) 2019 Advance conference later this month. Let your law enforcement contacts know the EIA is participating by sponsoring refreshments during the conference. We plan to continue to grow this partnership with CPOA and look for ways to support local law enforcement risk control efforts.
Payroll Change Email Scam Hits Public Agencies
A rash of phishing, or scam, emails (social engineering attacks) attempting to steal personal payroll information have been sent to EIA Members. These emails have been sent to HR and Payroll departments attempting to reroute where direct deposits are sent.
In one case, the phishing emails appeared to come from within the entity and included attached entity payroll-change forms with forged signatures. In late 2018, the IRS released an alert warning of these types of scams, which included fake payroll, direct deposit, and wire transfer changes.
It is a best practice when receiving emails asking to change any financial or personal information to do a follow up via phone calls to verify the changes. For more information, please contact EIA’s Risk Control department.
