Special Edition: Resources for Members Affected by the Wildfires
Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all of our members that are battling and affected by the many wildfires burning throughout the State. While these fires impact our physical property, they also affect us personally, including the homes and lives of our employees.
We’ve compiled several resources that can help alleviate some of the burdens faced by our members as a result of the fires. Please do not hesitate to contact the EIA if we can assist in any way.
Exposure to Wildfire Smoke:
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact EIA’s Risk Control Department or call 916-850-7300.
Employee Benefit Services:
- EAP Services are available to covered employees and anyone in their household as a result of home evacuations. Coping with a Fire contains more information from MHN, or you can call 1-800-242-6220 any time for further assistance. TTY users call 711.
- Express Scripts (ESI) can assist eligible employees or retirees in the event they are no longer able to obtain their medication due to the disaster. Emergency access to their medications is available through their local retail (Walgreens, CVS, Wal-Mart, etc.) pharmacy.
- If an eligible claim is rejected for “Refill too Soon”, an override function has been initiated that should allow the pharmacy to refill the medication.
- If the claim will not process, pharmacies should contact the Pharmacy Help Desk at 1-800-922-1557 for assistance.
- Vision Service Plan (VSP) is working directly with their network doctors, business partners, and relief agencies (including the American Red Cross) to support and fulfill the eye care needs of those directly affected by recent natural disasters.
- If you are a VSP member in need of eye care services due to a recent natural disaster, call the VSP Member Services Support Line at 1-800-877-7195 to have your VSP benefits reinstated (regardless of eligibility).
- Non-VSP members get access to free eye care and glasses by contacting the local American Red Cross to request a VSP Global Eyes of Hope gift certificate.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact EIA’s Director of Employee Benefits, Sidney DiDomenico, or call 916-850-7300.
