EIA's Coronavirus Precautions
Updates on Coronavirus are coming out in the news literally every few minutes. You have likely received information on preventative measures from other sources. If you have not, the World Health Organization (WHO) has developed good prevention communications which can be found here.
From what we’ve read and heard, there is currently a very low risk of exposure, and we will continue to monitor the situation. Here are some other things being done by the EIA:
- If you are attending the March 5th Executive Committee and/or March 6th Board meeting, an item has been placed on those agendas. Staff and Alliant will review basic prevention measures, HIPPA privacy issues to keep in mind, and provide a high level overview of how EIA programs and coverages might apply. We will also suggest social distancing and suggest greeting others with a “hearty hello and wave” rather than a hug or handshake.
- EIA events scheduled through April are being evaluated and may be cancelled or postponed. This includes the Healthcare Symposium, Encounter EIA, and Annual Medical Malpractice Seminar. Please note, though, at this time none of these have been cancelled or postponed. We will keep members, especially those registered to attend, informed as more information becomes available and decisions are made.
- EIA Committee Meetings are being evaluated as well. Staff will work with the Committee Chair to determine if the meeting should continue as planned, be cancelled if there isn’t an immediate business need, or if an option should be provided to allow persons who are concerned about travelling to attend the meeting via WebEx instead of in-person. Again, we will keep Committee members informed as more information becomes available and decisions are made.
The safety and welfare of all EIA members and business partners, their families, co-workers, constituents, and communities is extremely important. The EIA will continue to monitor WHO alerts, guidelines and recommendations on the Coronavirus and will provide updates as warranted.

Member Spotlight: Helping Students Thrive - San Marino High School Wellness Center
San Marino High School, home of the Titans, opened the Titan Wellness Center on campus in 2019. On the face of it, it may seem like any other student union where homework is finished, kids research on computers, and just hang out. But the Titan Wellness Center has a specific focus: ensure the students are thriving and safe. This innovative project was awarded the EAGLE Award for 2019.
