EIA Welcomes Chief Actuary, John Alltop
The EIA Programs have grown in number, size, and complexity. As a result, at their May meeting, the Executive Committee approved the creation of an EIA Actuarial Department. Having an in-house actuarial department will benefit the EIA by having an actuarial team focused on our programs full-time, to run models on “what if” scenarios, and to provide added expertise in program development.
We are pleased to announce that John Alltop will join the EIA as the Chief Actuary to run the new Department. His first day with the EIA will be July 18th. John has worked with the EIA since the mid-90’s and many of you may know John from his ownership of Pacific Actuarial Consultants and, more recently, his work with Bickmore. We will also hire an Actuarial Analyst, and the recruitment for that position will start shortly. Please join us in welcoming John to the EIA team!
Introducing Soft Tissue Injury Prevention Programs
Did you know that research shows the Average Direct Cost for a Sprain or Strain Injury is $33,528, and that 33% of all days-away from work cases are due to Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)? To help prevent these types of injuries, the EIA is proud to announce a partnership with Savvy Health Solutions to provide Soft Tissue Injury Prevention Programs aimed at reducing these Musculoskeletal Disorders, including: Sprains, Strains, Tears and Repetitive Motion Injuries. Through this partnership, EIA members are eligible for reduced rates for this crucial component of an integrated occupational health & safety strategy. Contact Ian Chadwick for more information.
