The City of Brentwood is looking for an innovatively dynamic professional with exceptional communication skills to join the Human Resources Team. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources/Risk Manager and participates in the development, implementation, and administration of comprehensive citywide programs for safety and wellness. The incumbent selected for this position will establish trust, promote a positive safety culture, and create a fun wellness atmosphere. The Occupational Health and Safety Specialist will be a collaborator who can swiftly and effectively build and maintain positive work relationships with a diverse network of city staff and outside agencies.
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Education/Training: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in occupational health studies, environmental studies, industrial health, safety management, safety technology, or a closely related field. Experience: Three years of experience in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, safety education and/or facility safety inspections. License or Certificate: Possession of a California Driver's License must be maintained as a continued condition of employment. Certified Safety Professional designation is highly desirable.

Written Exam - Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to take the written test. The examination will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description and is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 18, 2022. All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
The department is planning to hold hiring interviews the week of October 18, 2022.
